Jim Ellis grew up in Chicago and Detroit and has since lived all over the United States.
Jim has been a singer and musician most of his life. He started singing publicly when he was seven and started studying music theory, piano and trombone in junior high school. At age 13 he did his first song in church accompanying himself on the piano.
He was in several musical groups throughout his high school and college years. Then he became a worship leader and eventually went to Bible College. He eventually served as a worship pastor in several locations across the country.
And all the while he continued to write songs. Eventually he produced his own album (This is the Life - 2010) but it was definitely "home made."
While music is a huge part of his life, Jesus is much more. All Jim wants to do is take the message of the love of God to the world and even to the church, many of which still don't fully understand it.
Jim is looking forward to finally getting his music produced and recorded professionally and allowing it to bless as many as will hear it.

Polishing the JEMs
I've written many songs over the years. I've recorded two CD's... one with my late best friend, Keith Gamblin, called Eternal Purpose: Follow You and one solo project entitled This is the Life. The latter is available for purchase in my online store.
Most of these songs have been recorded in my home studio. Through that process I learned quite a bit. The main lesson I took away was this:
Leave the things you aren't good at to the professionals.
Even though I will still do some home studio recording, the plan is to pay for quality musicians to do the parts I cannot... mainly lead guitar. (I'm not a lead guitarist.)
Mixing and mastering is a skill I have not yet "mastered." (Pun intended). So, I will be hiring a professional to do that as well.
The next two goals are promotion to radio and booking concerts. Any leftover funds will go toward those goal. But the first step is to get the album made.
